Functions of Union Parishad

* Maintaining law and order and assisting the administration in this regard.
* Taking various steps to curb crime and smuggling.
* Agriculture , Plantation, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, Health, Cottage Industries, Irrigation Communication.
* Expanding family planning activities.
* Developing and ensuring the use of local resources.
* Public property such as- Preservation of roads, bridges, culverts, dams, canals, telephones, electricity etc.
* Reviewing the development works of other agencies at the union level and making recommendations to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer if necessary.
* Use of hygienic toilets Encourage people.
* Register births, deaths, the blind, beggars and the destitute.
* Conduct all types of censuses.

Various Problems, Village Courts, Arbitration, Development, Project Implementation, Government Plans and Project Implementation, Provision of Various Services, Citizen Certificate, Heir Certificate, Death Certificate Providing certificates, providing safe water, conducting educational activities, maintaining law and order, construction of roads, bridges and culverts, etc.
